EBRD 2017 Annual Meeting and Business Forum
9-11 May, Nicosia, Cyprus
The Republic of Cyprus had the honor to host the 2017 EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum, held from 9-11 May 2017, at the Filoxenia 
Conference Centre, a modern and multifunctional venue in Nicosia. It was a very significant event given the magnitude of EBRD as one the largest global international financial institutions. In parallel, the EBRD 2017 Business Forum was run whose theme was ‘Targeting Green and Inclusive Growth: Meeting Regional and Global Challenges'.
It was the first time ever that Cyprus hosted an Annual Meeting of a financial institution, a truly global event, that attracted around 2,000 people from all over the world (official delegations from 65 countries, including the participation of Ministers, Central Bank Governors and other senior officials and a large number of representatives from the business world and the foreign press), highlighting Cyprus as an international business and tourist center.
On the occasion of the EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum, the Host Country Investment Outlook Session event titled "Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean: Attractive Investment Opportunities within a secure Business Environment" was organized.
The panel included distinguished speakers from the traditional sectors of shipping and tourism as well as from the fast-growing emerging sectors of funds, energy and innovation.
Minister of Finance, Mr. Haris Georgiades, presented Cyprus’s competitive advantages as a business center, as well as the progress made with regard to the objective of ensuring sustainable economic growth. EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti praised the remarkable course of the Cypriot economy and its successful response to the challenges faced by global and regional developments.
Last but not least, a cultural event and a reception to all participants took place at the magnificent ancient theatre of Kourion overlooking the blue Mediterranean Sea, offering an unforgettable experience to attendants under the foul moon’s golden rays.
